It is easier to open the door to do these areas. Once you have completed the bottom, work both ends evenly towards the little cut out in the center of the top. For the area towards the front of the door, you can use a stiff piece of plastic or cardboard to wrap the vinyl around the trim.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePay special attention to the area in front of the fake door trim. Using heat you want to push this area down, but hold on to the little piece that tucks down in front of the fake vent. You want to carefully guide this portion to cover the paint. Make sure there is a straight line across the bottom and the vinyl is long enough to reach the opposite edge. Once you have found the correct position, apply heat. This helps the vinyl adhere to the surface better and will allow it to stretch it across the top, conforming it to the curves of this trim. Do not allow the vinyl to crease, continue to stretch it using a combination of pulling and heat. A good rule of thumb is that you should not apply much more heat than it would take to burn your hand. Having a hair dryer or heat gun handy can aide in installation, but we've been able to install this without either in the middle of winter. Start at the top of the sidemarker, align the vinyl there and work your way toward the bottom. You can use a wet installation if you want, however this is also not required. When you do not use a wet installation you need to be sure there is absolutely no dirt or it will get stuck in between the sidemarker and vinyl with no way out. The hair dryer or heat gun would be used to dry out the water after install. Just make sure that it is not too hot of air. Once these are done, apply the top piece as far forward of the steering wheel as possible. You may need to use small amounts of heat on the ends. The lower spoke surround requires the most attention. Apply evenly with enough material forward of the sides to wrap around the top, but not so that it will touch the painted portion of the trim. Apply light amounts of heat evenly on the vinyl.
